Adam Leitman Bailey, Esq., practices residential and commercial real estate law in New York and New Jersey. This past year, Mr. Bailey was identified as among the top five percent of attorneys in the New York area and named a Super Lawyer by Law & Politics magazine. Last year, Real Estate Weekly noted that "Adam Leitman Bailey has made a name for himself with his success winning cases in the courtroom." This year, that same newspaper called him “famous” for his “condominium and tenant representation” while the New York Real Estate Journal called him "one of New York's best real estate attorneys." The New York Times referred to his legal strategy in a case and legislation proposed as “novel” and WPIX-TV referred to him as one of New York's "prominent real estate attorneys." Dateline NBC featured Mr. Bailey’s negotiating ability on national television and called him, "aggressive, tenacious and smart," while the executive director of the Washington Post thanked him for his "wonderful legal and practical help and effectiveness."

Mr. Bailey's advocacy has prevailed in numerous important trials and cases before various courts and trial venues including Housing, Civil, and New York State Supreme Court as well as various New York Appellate tribunals. Such cases have included a noteworthy Appellate Division decision involving an interpretation of the recording statute; an important case setting new rules for commercial real estate joint venture agreements, as well as defeating a motion to dismiss on an unprecedented case involving the limited liability company law. He has been successful in numerous trials and settlements involving commercial and residential building owners and tenants, real estate developers, real estate brokerages, cooperative and condominium boards, and has successfully defended a number of the largest title companies in the nation.

He has also favorably represented a number of tenant and homeowner associations and commercial and residential tenants, earning these persons and associations many millions of dollars in compensation and rent abatements. For buildings in disrepair, he has also successfully sued to ensure that these residential towers, apartments, and stores were repaired and all services restored. Mr. Bailey's creative advocacy in the real estate and landlord-tenant practices has led to a number of published decisions, some of which have been published in trade journals and legal newspapers.

He has also applied his expertise in closing various real estate deals and commercial leases. He has been named to the Board of Editors for Commercial Leasing Law & Strategy and has a real estate column in the New York Law Journal. Mr. Bailey is the co-author of several form leases for Blumberg Legal Forms whose principal, Bob Blumberg, remarked that Mr. Bailey’s lease drafting is “remarkable.” Both residential and office agreements he drafted for Blumberg Forms can be purchased nationwide. A book published by Vendome titled Insider’s Best Commercial Leases Clauses consulted and quoted Adam Leitman Bailey for his legal expertise and drafting of some of the nation’s top leases clauses.

He has authored and been featured in articles on various real estate issues for The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, National Public Radio, New York 1, the New York Law Journal, Landlord and Tenant Practice Reporter, The Cooperator, Habitat Magazine, The New York Post, The Daily News, New York Living, New York Magazine, and The Westchester Journal News. He has also frequently been interviewed and quoted in Commercial Lease Law Insider and Apartment Law Insider.

He has also been listed in Who's Who in Real Estate by Habitat Magazine and is a member of the Real Property Committee for the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. As an assistant adjunct professor at New York University, Mr. Bailey teaches commercial and residential landlord-tenant law.

Mr. Bailey graduated from New Milford High School in 1988. While attending New Milford High School, he was a member and captain of the Cross Counrty and Track and Field teams and achieved First Team All-League honors as well as Honorable Mention All-County Honors during his junior and senior years.  He graduated from Rutgers College in 1992 and Syracuse University College of Law in 1995 with honors from both schools.
