Welcome to the School Counseling Office

The David E. Owens Middle School Counseling team welcomes you to a fantastic year full of Knights’ Pride! We believe that each student needs educational, social, and emotional support in order to reach their fullest potential. Our focus is on making the counseling office an open, friendly, and inviting space! We encourage students to drop by to say HELLO, hang out, or relax and clear their heads in our comfy area!

 The School Counselors are also the direct contact for the Intervention and Referral Services Committee (I&RS). The I&RS Committee consists of an administrator, school counselors, a Child Study Team member, and the referring teacher. The I&RS committee has been established as a school-based problem solving group that converses monthly for the purpose of assisting teachers with strategies for working with students who are experiencing difficulties in areas such as academic, social, emotional, or health. The purpose of I&RS is to develop an assistance plan especially designed to assist teachers to motivate and aid your child within the regular education setting.
